Smoking in Vancouver

Vancouver is a smoke free city in the sense that smoking is not permitted in restaurants, malls, on public transportation, or in any public space or building, or in pubs, bars, lounges and clubs. The legal smoking age is 19.

At the same time, Canadians seem to smoke more than their American neighbors despite the fact that name brand Canadian cigarettes cost more than $9 a pack.

If you’re visiting Vancouver, you might want to consider bringing your cigarettes with you though you are only allowed to bring one carton or 200 cigarettes. A lot of die hard smokers buy loose tobacco and roll their own.

If you want to buy a tobacco product in Vancouver, Cigars are very popular because real Cuban cigars are legal in Vancouver and there are shops dedicated to Cuban cigars and their accoutrements. You’ll find all the famous brands: Cohiba, Monte Cristo, Macanudo, Hoyo de Monterrey, Romeo y Julieta, Partagas, Ashton, and A. Fuente.
