Day Train Trip to Whistler

If you don't have a lot of time but want a real train trip while you're staying in Vancouver, then consider the train trip between Vancouver and Whistler.. This three hour train to Whistler is available daily, except Tuesday and Wednesday, from May 14 until September 29, 2010.

With this trip, you have several options:
1. You can take the train up and back the same day: $219 per person + 5% tax
2. You can take the train up one day and return by train another day: $219 per person + 5% tax
3. You can take the train in one direction and a bus in the other direction: $164 per person + 5% tax
4. You can take the train in one direction and a float plane in the other direction: $298 per person + 5% tax.

You can include dome service on the train for an additional $90 per person in each direction.

This train trip is very convenient because you get picked up in downtown Vancouver and taken to the train station

Everything about the trip is beautiful. The train trip is spectacular from start to finish. You'll pass under the Lions Gate Bridge as you follow the shore of Burrard Inlet from the North Vancouver Rocky Mountaineer train station to West Vancouver.

You'll see not only the beaches of West Vancouver but the beautiful ocean front houses of West Vancouver, Canada's wealthiest community.

Once you leave West Vancouver, you will follow Howe Sound past the communities of Lions Bay, Furry Creek, Porteau Cove dive site and campground, historic Britannia Beach and Squamish. En route, you'll see the Chief, a huge granite monolith that often has climbers clinging to its face.

After you pass Squamish, the route turns north into the mountains. You'll travel through the Cheakamus Canyon, past glaciers and exuberant rivers and quiet lakes into Whistler's Creekside Station.

Breakfast is served on the train and either High Tea or a late lunch (depending on the service you choose) is served on the return trip from Whistler to Vancouver. And when you reach the North Vancouver train station in the evening, buses will be waiting to return you to downtown Vancouver.

Whistler Rail and Wings Adventure

This spectacular adventure gives you a chance to take the train in one direction and the float plane in the other. If you choose this option, you'll have the chance to see really breath taking scenery from two perspectives: the train and the air.You can go to Whistler on one day and return on another for the same price. (Not counting the cost of the hotel, of course.)

You can take the train in the morning and return by float plane in the evening or take the float plane from Vancouver at 9:00 AM in the morning, arriving in Whistler at 9:35 AM, and returning to Vancouver on the 2:30 PM train from Whistler. You'll be back in downtown Vancouver about 6:30 PM

If you take the train in both directions, you'll have about 2 hours in Whistler. If you take the train in one direction and the float plane in the other, you'll have about 5 hours in Whistler.

Price for the train/float plane adventure start at $298 per person + 5% tax for Classic Service and $388 per person for Dome Service.

Whistler Escapes

Whistler makes a great Escape and if you don't have time for a trip to the Canadian Rockies, the Whistler Escape is the next best thing.

Prices start at $559 per person and include a night in Vancouver, transportation from your Vancouver hotel to the train station, the Rocky Mountaineer train to Whistler, a night in Whistler, the train from Whistler to Vancouver and a second night in Vancouver.
